About Our Commitment.
As believers we understand we are to commit whole heartedly all our faith and trust to God and all spiritual gifts to His purposes and to the welfare and prosperity of the family of God.
In addition to our whole hearted commitment to God we understand that we are to be committed to one another as is modeled in Acts 2.
We understand that our relationship with God supersedes all others, with all other relationships built upon and growing from this primary relationship. As He has loved us so we will love one another (John 15:12)
We commit totally our minds and physical bodies to be temples of the Holy Spirit and our strengths and abilities to blessing the body of Christ.
We understand that all our possessions (money, houses, land, vehicles, etc.) are placed in our hands by God and that we are but stewards of them. We commit to stewarding those resources in accordance with what is pleasing to God and to release any and all of them as the Lord directs.
We commit to tithing a portion of our income to the body of Christ as is modeled in both the Old and New Testaments. A guide of at least 10% of income is offered as a starting point with the understanding that the exact amount is between the believer and the Lord.
We each commit to the spreading of the Gospel and to the making of disciples at all times and in all places (Matthew 28:19-20).
New Hope is agreeing to this covenantal commitment with the body of New Hope. A good application of this can be found in the one another verses throughout the New Testament:
“Forgive one another” Colossians 3:13
“Encourage one another” Hebrews 10:25
“Pray for each other” James: 16
“Instruct one another” Romans 15:14
“Offer hospitality to one another” 1 Peter 4:9
“Love each other” John 15; 12
“Build each other up” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Carry each other’s burdens” Galatians 6:2
“Submit to one another” Ephesians 5:21
