About Our Leadership Team.
John Fogle, Pastor
John grew up on a tree farm in the Shenandoah Valley in a tiny community called Fort Valley. He became a Christian while attending JMU as he pursued his business management degree. Upon graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Kara (a public school teacher) and they settled in Woodstock, VA. For six years, John then ran the retail portion of his family’s business (Fort Valley Nursery). As he grew in his walk with the Lord, John sensed a deep call on his life while attending New Hope Church (Woodstock) to pursue full-time ministry. In 2010, John and Kara moved to Lexington, SC, to start seminary at Columbia International University and Seminary. While at CIU, he obtained a Master’s degree in Ministry Leadership. In 2012, John and his wife moved back to Virginia to accept the pastorate at Riverside Church in Orange County. During that time, John and Kara family grew to include 2 children, Samuel and Lydia. In 2017, John and Kara sensed God calling them back to their hometown to pastor New Hope Church. In January of 2018, John began pastoring New Hope Church.
Pete Miyares joined the New Hope leadership team in the Spring of 2018 and also leads the Men’s Prayer Ministry and Children’s Church. Though churched most of his life, he became a follower of Jesus in 1989 at the age of 25. While serving in the Air Force for 28 years, Pete and his family were members of a number of churches and military chapel communities. He served those churches in many capacities including youth and children’s ministries, home group and bible study leadership, and small group and one-on-one discipleship. He also served in a pastoral and preaching role for the church community at the US Embassy Complex in Baghdad while deployed to Iraq. He and his wife Ada have two grown children, Matthew and Ashley.
Andy has been a member of New Hope since 2000, starting as worship team leader in 2008 and later joining the leadership team in 2009. Since he married his wife Jill in 1996, Andy’s family has grown to include two stepdaughters, a son-in-law, and four grandchildren. They live at St. Luke, Virginia in the house that Andy’s grandmother and father were both born in. He will soon have worked for State Industrial Products out of Cleveland, Ohio, for 31 years. He also enjoys all kinds of music, especially Bluegrass; woodworking, when he can find the time; and talking to people about how great God is!
